More information about the courses we offer can be found under the courses tab.

Work Placement

To ensure our courses remain industry-relevant, many include a period of on-the-job training (work placement), which the College organises for students. Students enrolled in courses with a work placement component will be advised of their designated venue during their course and prior to commencing placement.

Work placement is a mandatory component of several vocational qualifications, including:

* CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support
* SIT30821 Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
* SIT40521 Certificate IV in Kitchen Management
* SIT50422 Diploma of Hospitality Management
During work placement, students attend the premises of a host employer and participate fully in the workplace. The placement may be paid or unpaid, depending on the host employer’s preference. Students who demonstrate strong skills and professionalism during their placement may increase their chances of being offered paid work or ongoing employment with the host employer.

This experience allows students to apply and extend the knowledge and skills learned during their studies in a real-world environment. Employers supervise students while they perform workplace tasks, and College assessors visit the host employer to formally assess students’ performance in consultation with the host supervisor.
Evidence gathered during placement is used to confirm the competencies required for the qualification.

Students should note that a National Police Check is typically required by a number of employers before students commence work placement, particularly in Aged Care or Disability facilities. Additional requirements may include a Working with Children Check and a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) Worker Screening Check. These checks are mandatory for the safety and protection of clients and residents in such facilities and the College assists students in obtaining these checks.
